Romance at a Glance Reviews Lover Avenged by J.R. Ward
AKA Rehvenge and Ehlena’s book
AKA McSteamy McSexy McFuckmenowplease talking dirty to a female of worth
There comes a time in every bad boy’s life in literature when he finds his soulmate and expresses his inner romantic self while wooing and sexing her up. Leaving us, the reading public, with feelings of intense longing, warm mushy happiness, and squeals of delight.
This was Rehvenge’s time! And good for Ehlena for not only being a wonderful female of worth on her own with her own agency but also for nabbing the sexy, mohawked motherfucker himself. As always, SO MUCH HAPPENED in this book, which was a great thing. Bridget, always a sucker for the feelz, was swimming in a soup of warm fuzzies and surprisingly, Shani jumped into the warm, romantic waters with her.
Some of our favorite moments we discussed:
Rehvenge and Ehlena’s first sexual encounter at his penthouse (and how she wore her uniforms to “keep it professional”
Xhex and John Matthew’s arc in this book, from sexy and innocent to sad and frustrating
Rehv’s mahman
Rehv and Ehlena’s late “day” phone calls
All things sympath colony
On Romance at a Glance, we discuss and review all genres of romance novels, as well as get into the nitty-gritty of real-life romance, relationships, and sex... while cracking each other up. Expect some spontaneous singing, funny anecdotes, honest reviews, and naughty language.
Quick Guide Review of the Book and Notes
Book Title: Lover Avenged
Author: J.R. Ward
Audio Narrator: Jim Frangione
Part of a Series: Yes, Book 7 of the Black Dagger Brotherhood
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Synopsis: Rehvenge has always kept his distance from the Brotherhood—even though his sister is married to a member, for he harbors a deadly secret that could make him a huge liability in their war against the lessers. As plots within and outside of the Brotherhood threaten to reveal the truth about Rehvenge, he turns to the only source of light in his darkening world, Ehlena, a vampire untouched by the corruption that has its hold on him—and the only thing standing between him and eternal destruction.
Heroine Rating:
Shani: 🍑🍑🍑🍑🍑 She took care of the people in her life. And her whole storyline felt justified and not contrived. She had backbone and stood up to Rehvenge.
Bridget: 🍑🍑🍑🍑🍑 Sweet love story. I agree with Shani on all accounts, but I also really liked that she was not afraid to take pleasure in the moments together and let Rehvenge pleasure her.
Hero Rating:
Shani: 🍆🍆🍆🍆🍆 Doesn’t take advantage of Ehlena with his sympath abilities. Love his pimp cane and his swagaliciousness. I liked the way that he fucked with his half-sister and kept his power even when could have broken. And that he didn’t kill Wrath even though he could have, and was honest about the fact that he thought about it!
Bridget: 🍆🍆🍆🍆🍆 The dirty talk, the late-night phone calls where he bared his heart to her were the best. Love that he does bad things but to protect his family and eventually Ehlena. He doesn’t take pleasure in them. And he always treats his employees including prostitutes with kindness and respect.
McDreamy to Mc Steamy:
Shani: McDreamy and a McSteamy
Bridget: McSteamy, McSexy, McFuckmenowplease
Classy to Nasty:
Classy AF, vanilla with a lot of heat

One of my favorites so far!
This is the longest BDB books at about 24 hours and it was hard to put down my earphones for any of it. I think this is one of the best books so far closely tied with #3 Lover Awakened (Zhadist/Bella) and #4 Lover Revealed (Butch/Marissa). I thought this installment was emotionally deeper then the last couple of books or maybe I just had a hard time liking Phury and/or relating to Vishous. This book is about Rehvenge and Ehlena and had alot of twists and turns as they all do but I felt more empathy for these two characters. This book also delved a little more into John and Zhex and there was quite a bit about Wrath and Beth too. I can't wait for the next book, Lover Mine due out in April 2010. If you haven't read this series you need to start at the beginning with Dark Lover and work your way forward, its a series you shouldn't skip around in as one leads to another. They are very darkly emotionally and highly sexual in nature.
Bridget’s from Goodreads:
Whitney 4 stars
This series keeps getting harder and harder to review. Each book covers so much information across so many characters that I can't possibly begin to touch on everything. So I am going to do something I don't normally do... I am going to do gif reactions. If you want me to elaborate anything, just drop me a comment
Cover Art:
Shani: I thought it was hot, I thought it was sexy, but it wasn’t how I expected Rehvenge to look like.
Bridget: I wish the hottie on the cover had glowing amethyst eyes… however, I was still SO stoked about the break from the tradition of the first books. The tattoos, the intense stare, the muscles… I was here for it.
Worth the Read?
Shani: YES.
Bridget: A thousand times yes
