Romance at a Glance Reviews Sated in Ink by Carrie Ann Ryan
AKA The book we thought was in a tattoo parlor or tattoo related and has nothing to do with that
We interviewed indie author Carrie Ann Ryan! To check out her interview where she talks writing about building an indie book business, click here.
The book delivered what we thought it would. A fun, quick menage read. The story wasnโt complicated, the evil characters tended towards the one-dimensional, but the sex was hot and the throuple well defined.
Some major points we discussed:
Lincoln making art for money and not buying into the starving artist thing.
Holland and the humor between the three of them. That they all tease Ethan and that she talks about getting to know Ethan through her dates with Lincoln and visa versa.
Use of LUBE!
Wanted Lincoln to dump his agent! What a dick (and crazy person it turns out)
Ethanโs sister/in-laws going to Hollandโs house unannounced to befriend her.
Ethanโs workaholism - Lincolnโs reaction
The phone call/phone sex (HOT!)
On Romance at a Glance, we discuss and review all genres of romance novels, as well as get into the nitty-gritty of real-life romance, relationships, and sex... while cracking each other up. Expect some spontaneous singing, funny anecdotes, honest reviews, and naughty language.
Quick Guide Review of the Book and Notes
Book Title: Sated Ink Ink
Author: Carrie Ann Ryan
Audio Narrator: The Narrator was not good. Tor Thom
Part of a Series: Yes, Montgomery Ink Saga Book #2
Genre: Contemporary romance, menage
Cover Art:
Shani: There was only one tattoo!!
Bridget: I thought this book was going to be in a tattoo parlor or involve tattoos because of the name and photo on the front? Also, didnโt give me the idea this would be a menage/triad/throuple situation.
Synopsis: Ethan and Lincoln have been best friends their entire livesโฆ and had secret crushes on each other for almost as long. Neither one is willing to rock the boat and ruin their friendship by taking a chance until Holland comes into the picture sitting on a park bench in her wedding dress drinking wine from a paper bag. What starts as a goodwill gesture, turns into a friendship and then a relationship they all want to hold on to.
Heroine Rating: Holland
Shani: ๐๐
Bridget: ๐๐๐ She was funny and eager and not afraid to say that she was scared and what she didnโt know. It made sense to me that she held a part of herself back. I did not like her leaving Ethan after he got hurtโฆ but enjoyed her standing up to her family.
Hero Rating: Ethan
Shani: ๐๐๐ Ethan works too much and there was tension between them and getting to know holland.
Bridget: ๐๐๐๐ I liked him. I liked that he stuck his foot in his mouth. I liked that he put actions into changing his workaholism and not just words.
Hero Rating: Lincoln
Shani: ๐๐๐
Bridget: ๐๐๐ I wanted to like him more, but I think his not fessing up to his feelings about his art and his block made me like him lessโฆ. Also, leaving Ethan after the assault. Dick move. WHERE WAS THE EROTIC PAINTING SCENE?!!?
McDreamy to Mc Steamy:
Shani: Mc Throuple!
Bridget: McDreamys for sure.
Classy to Nasty:

Shaniโs from Audible:
Repeat repeat repeat
I wanted to love this story, but the way each of them continually said the same negative things over and over and over and over again drove me crazy. If they had taken out most of it, then the book would have only been a third long.
We got it so many times that they were all insecure and none of them thought it would work or continue. Really, well I did, I didn't need to be told it every other sentence. Okay maybe I'm exaggerating a little, but not by much.
Tor Thom is a great narrator, but I do wish they would have different ones for the main characters.
For me, not worth the credit.
Bridgetโs from Goodreads:
Marianela Aybar (Mari Loves Books Blog) rated it 4 stars
This was so much more than I expected and I loved it! It's not just a menage romance, it's a story of moving forward, forgiveness, opening up your heart again, and trust. Holland, Ethan, and Lincoln find just that. It seems as though what Ethan and Lincoln were waiting for was Holland all along. Their relationship fit and it had me giddy. It's hot, passionate, and sweet.
Worth the Read?
Shani: On the fence. I think there are better menage books.
Bridget: 3 stars - Looking for a quick read with a menage and sweet relationship, this one will hit the spot.
